YOU Telecom's network raided for pirating Zee Turner channel signals
Another operator, Kable First India Pvt Ltd. escapes the raid because of non cooperation of policeBangalore. August 7, 2008: The Hon'ble Delhi high Court's order dated 18th July 2008, directed that those operators who have not entered into a valid subscription agreement with Zee Turner cannot transmit Ten Sports channels. Further, the Delhi high court had appointed commissioners to seize the equipments and gadgets which were being used for illegal transmission of Ten Sports channels.
Thereafter, Zee Turner had requested the court commissioners to look in to the illegal transmissions taking place in Bangalore city. The raid was conducted in the afternoon during which raiding officials were also bashed up by Bhasker Net's staff. All the evidences of piracy and man handling have been collected by the court appointed commissioner and the same will be handed over to Delhi High Court. Meanwhile Bhasker's Ten Sports Equipment involved in piracy is also seized in Bhopal.
On 5th August 2008, 2 teams, each one of them comprising of the court appointed commissioner and Zee Turner officials, initiated the investigation to find out about the illegal transmission of Ten Sports channel in Bangalore.
The First team proceeded towards Digital infotainment Pvt Ltd., operating under the brand name You telecom, with its office at Infantry road. The Court commissioner on being completely satisfied that piracy was taking place, proceeded to seek police assistance. Along with the police, the place was raided and equipments through which piracy was undertaken were seized by the court commissioner.
At the same time, the second team, after due verifications, also found out that Kable First Pvt Ltd, another MSO, was also indulging in piracy. The team proceeded to the Malleshwaram police station to seek assistance for raiding the headend of the MSO. But to their dismay, the SHO and the DCP of the area refused to provide any police assistance to the court commissioner inspite of the fact that the assistance was sought under the direction of the Delhi high Court.
Unconfirmed sources have revealed that the court appointed commissioner has taken a serious note of the non cooperation of the police officials, which has been recorded by him in his report which would be submitted to the Delhi high Court. It appears that its fallout may lead to contempt proceedings against the police officers for disobeying Delhi High court's order.
Zee Turner's spokesperson and legal head, Mr. 'Viresh Dhaibar said, 'Zee Turner shall not tolerate and allow unauthorized, illegal transmission of its channels at any cost. It would take all necessary steps to initiate appropriate civil and criminal proceedings against such errant cable operators. It also expects the police to be more supportive and pro active in dealing with such matters in order to eradicate the evil of piracy prevailing in the industry.'
